Jon 'Mr Scarborough' Hampton conquers the Grand Canyon.
Eddie risking life and limb on a rock only yards from a 100ft certain death fall near the bottom of the Grand Canyon.
A deserved rest at the bottom of the Grand Canyon. One of the wonders of the world, the most awesome sight of nature, and guess what? Davey Brett is asleep.
This was our 4.6 litre monster hire car. Fully loaded with electrical toys. With each of us taking turns driving it was a wonder that the car made it back in one piece. What with Jon driving from 300 miles from Los Angels to San Diego over the cats-eyes. And Dave keeping quiet about his night blindness that only became apparent after he had missed the seventh turning on the left in succession. Anyway the most harrowing experience is detailed below. Eddie was the safest driver by far.
We were driving to the Grand Canyon when we decided we'd take a little detour down a gravel road to see a Ghost Town (called Signal). We hit some sand and got the rear wheels completely stuck. By the way Dave was driving :-)
So there we were in the middle of Arizona, miles from the nearest town (population 200) in the blazing midday heat not having seen anyone for over 5hours. Oh and by the way we had no water. Despite shocking water hording allegations that surfaced later.
Finally with no options left Eddie and Dave set out to walk the 9miles, (which due to a map reading error was really 25miles!). Across rough desert terrain in the dark with no lights or water. Jon and I stayed in case anyone turned up...

The rest of the story is so harrowing a deep seated bitterness over the actual events still remains to day. You soon find out who your friends are when the chips are down.
